Dr Khoi Tran
Dr Khoi Tran is a Vitreoretinal & Ophthalmic Surgeon providing expert surgical and medical management of diseases of the retina, macula and vitreous, as well as complex and routine cataract surgery.
He has had extensive medical and ophthalmic training throughout Australia and North America. After initially completing his Pharmacy and Medical degrees at the University of Queensland, Dr Tran underwent Ophthalmology training at the prestigious Sydney Eye Hospital. He then spent several years in North America completing vitreoretinal fellowships at the University of British Columbia and the Jules Stein Eye Institute, UCLA, before joining UBC faculty as a consultant vitreoretinal surgeon for over a year in one of North America's busiest retinal units.
Dr Tran's surgical practice includes:
- Management of retinal tears, retinal detachments and vitreous bleeds
- Cataract Surgery including revisions or complex cases requiring scleral fixation of intraocular lenses (sutured and sutureless)
- Management of medical and surgical macular diseases including epiretinal membranes, macular holes and macular bleeds
- Treatment of bothersome floaters or clouding
- Paediatric vitreoretinal surgery
- Ocular Trauma
Dr Tran is principal investigator on several international multicentre clinical trials, with numerous publications and textbook contributions, and holds a public hospital appointment at Gold Coast University Hospital, where he teaches the next generation of ophthalmologists.
